In mid-October, Kawasaki introduced the KLX230S, an easier-to-use version of its popular KLX230 dual sports version, with reduced suspension travel and lower seat height (32.7 inches, less than 35 inches). Green Team announced that it will return to the standard KLX230 in 2022 and the new 2022 Kawasaki KLX230 SE, a special edition model with cool add-ons, colors and graphics.

The platform shared by KLX230, KLX230S and KLX230 SE is an air-cooled four-stroke 233cc single-cylinder engine with a dual-valve SOHC cylinder head and electronic fuel injection device with a 32mm throttle body. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a tight-ratio 6-speed transmission, a pull-wire driven wet clutch and chain final drive.

Kawasaki said that the length of the exhaust pipe contributes to the mid-to-low-end performance of the engine. In order to match the off-road image of the off-road motorcycle-style body inspired by KX, the exhaust is equipped with a cone-shaped muffler with an oval cross-section.

The high-strength steel perimeter frame is durable and allows the engine to be installed in a lower position on the chassis to help maintain a low center of gravity. The spoked aluminum wheels-21 inches in the front and 18 inches in the rear-maximize the KLX230's off-road potential. In the front, a 2-piston caliper squeezes a 240mm petal disc brake, and then a 1-piston caliper squeezes a 220mm disc brake.

The suspension is handled by a 37 mm telescopic fork with 8.7 inches of travel and Uni-Trak connecting rod rear shock absorbers with adjustable preload and 8.8 inches of travel.

The 2022 Kawasaki KLX230 SE is equipped with several Kawasaki original accessories, black rims, and special colors and graphics, raising it to a higher level. Upgrades include tapered handlebars, hand guards, skid plates and frame covers.

The 1-1/8-inch steel clip diameter of the tapered handlebars helps improve ride comfort, and the diameter is tapered to narrow the grip area. Kawasaki said the design allows for controlled bending and acts as a shock absorber for hands and arms to reduce fatigue and increase comfort. The handlebars are also equipped with hand guards to protect the rider’s hands from debris and weather.

The durable frame cover is made of plastic, which helps to protect the chassis side rails from wear. Anti-skid plates have been installed to provide full protection to the bottom rails of the chassis and include an oil drain hole so that the oil can be changed without disassembly.

Other features of the 2022 Kawasaki KLX230 SE include a 2-gallon fuel capacity, a 34.8-inch seat height, and a curb weight of 291 pounds (claimed; California is 293 pounds). The passenger footboard allows two people to ride, and there is a lockable toolbox compartment on the left side cover. The toolbox uses the Kawasaki one-key system, so it can be locked and unlocked with the ignition key. The LCD digital display includes speedometer, odometer, dual trip meter, fuel gauge, clock and indicator lights.

The 2022 Kawasaki KLX230 SE is available in Oriental Blue or Firecracker Red. The suggested retail price is US$4,999. The 2022 Kawasaki KLX230 is available in lime, with a suggested retail price of US$4,799.

I like that blue. Is this color available in the United States?

Make people believe that it appears these days? It is not even possible to get a 2021 model in the United States. Why create new models that we will never see. Take time to deliver something that already exists.
